Court hears claim of forced Roma sterilization (AP)

Europe's human rights court is hearing a Roma woman's case alleging that she was wrongly and forcibly sterilized by a state hospital in her native Slovakia because of her ethnicity. The European Court of Human Rights opened the hearing Tuesday in the eastern French city of Strasbourg regarding the complaint of the woman who was identified only as 'V.C.' against Slovakia's government. The court said the woman, who was born in 1980, was sterilized after giving birth in 2000 to her second child.
